The Low Income Energy Assistance Program (LIEAP) provides for a one-time cash payment to help eligible families pay their heating bills. This payment is usually received in February of each year. This program is 100% federally funded. Applications are taken the first two weeks of November.

- Meet an income test
- Have reserves at or below $2,200
- Be responsible for its heating bills
Crisis Intervention Program
Crisis Intervention Program provides assistance to qualified households during extreme heating or cooling emergencies. Payments are made directly to vendors for households experiencing life-threatening or health-related emergencies due to weather conditions. This program primarily assists with past due utility bills and is federally funded.
A household that applies must:
-
Have at least one U.S. Citizen or a noncitizen who meets certain eligibility criteria
-
Meet an income test
-
Be in a heating or cooling related emergency
In order for the program to run continuously, the weather must be life threatening. This basically means that the weather must be severe. Our agency monitors the weather and temperature closely. The crisis intervention program is not an entitlement program (everyone is not eligible). People will be seen on a case by case basis. Your income and medical condition must be verified.
Below are those who MAY be considered for assistance:
1) Elderly (Especially those receiving CAP services)
2) Parents with small children under five years of age
3) Disabled persons (If questionable, a physician must agree)
4) Actively working people who are below the income limit
